UniMate
Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of UniMate, a service operated by Guide to Heights [legal entity suffix] (“UniMate”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using FlyMate, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
1. What UniMate is
UniMate is a verified social platform for international students. Our currently active service, FlyMate, introduces verified students who are travelling to the same university or city around the same dates so they can connect before and during their journey.
Important: we make introductions, not travel arrangements
UniMate is an introduction and matching platform only. We are not a travel agent, airline, education agent, or accommodation provider. We do not book flights, arrange visas, or guarantee that you will be matched with anyone. Any interaction, communication, travel, or meeting between students happens at their own discretion and risk.
2. Eligibility
To use FlyMate you must be at least 18 years old [confirm age with counsel], be a genuine student who has been admitted to a recognised institution, and be able to provide valid verification documents. You agree that all information you provide is true, accurate, and your own.
3. Account registration and verification
You must register an account and complete verification before using FlyMate. Verification requires you to submit your passport, admission letter (offer letter or CoE), and air ticket. We aim to review submissions within a 24-hour service window, using a manual review queue assisted by OCR. We may approve, request resubmission, or decline a registration where documents cannot be verified.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
4. Activation fee
FlyMate requires a one-time activation fee of ₹399. This fee activates your verified profile and remains active until your class commencement (CoE start) date.
- The activation fee is non-refundable, except where Guide to Heights is unable to verify a valid document you have submitted, in which case the fee will be refunded.
- Payment is processed by our third-party payment provider. We do not store your full card details.
5. Your responsibilities and conduct
When using UniMate, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, genuine documents and information.
- Treat other students with respect and communicate honestly.
- Use the platform only for its intended purpose — connecting with fellow students.
You must not:
- Impersonate anyone, create fake or duplicate accounts, or submit forged documents.
- Harass, threaten, defraud, or harm other users.
- Collect, misuse, or publish another user’s personal information.
- Use the platform for any unlawful, commercial, or fraudulent purpose.
- Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the platform.
6. Matching and contact
Matches are based on the information you provide, such as university, city, and travel dates. We do not guarantee that a match will be found or that any match will lead to contact. First contact between matched students is by email only; your phone number remains private unless you choose to share it.
7. Safety
Verification reduces but does not eliminate risk. You are solely responsible for your own decisions about whom you communicate with, share information with, or meet. Always exercise caution, meet in public where appropriate, and never share sensitive personal or financial information. UniMate is not responsible for the conduct of any user, online or offline.
8. Privacy and data
Your use of UniMate is also governed by our Privacy Policy and Data Protection Policy. In particular, your verification documents are stored temporarily and permanently deleted 30 days after your class commencement date, and cannot be recovered after deletion.
9. Intellectual property
All content, branding, and software on UniMate are owned by Guide to Heights or its licensors and are protected by law. You may not copy, reproduce, or reuse them without our written permission. You retain ownership of the content and documents you submit, and grant us a limited licence to use them only to provide and verify the service.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, submit false information, or pose a risk to other users or the platform. You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Some information may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers
The platform is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties about matches, outcomes, or the conduct of other users, and we do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Guide to Heights shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for the acts or omissions of any user. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the activation fee you paid. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Guide to Heights from any claim arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the platform, or your interactions with other users.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of [your city, India] shall have jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections that may apply in your location. [Confirm jurisdiction and any Australia-specific provisions with counsel.]
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
